Daily Trailer Insights – Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Official Trailer 1

What the trailer tells us

A lot of people are cynical regarding extra Star Wars films that tell different stories because they feel it will be over-egged and too many films will only ruin the franchise. I disagree. I want to see how the rebels tried to find plans to find a way of destroying the Death Star. I want to know the backstory and I want more Star Wars films. Okay there is a chance that they may blemish it but let’s be honest Episode 1, 2 and 3 nearly ruined Star Wars forever. If it wasn’t for a maintained loyal fan base of all ages we may not be speaking about this now.

The trailer overall looks good. It could have benefitted from more scenes with dialogue as I feel I have seen it all before with the action scenes that is present in all films. Felicity Jones appears to fit well in the role from what I have seen in the trailers so far as someone who is strict to her role in the galaxy and an eager leader to help the mission.

It will be interesting to see how the other characters serve to the narrative but the trailer does not give too much away about anyone else which is a shame. It was hard to contain my excitement when I saw Darth Vader at the end seemingly looking at plans of the Death Star and I’m already intrigued by the overly tall droid that seems to blurt out statistics.

A lot of criticism has been aimed at the lack of female characters in Rogue One. The trailer does nothing to give any encouragement that there will be more which is not good. You get the feeling this film will create some controversies in this area after release.

Star War Stories may not work but it is worth a go, right? Waiting 2 years for each main Star Wars film will just be painful. These fillers will aid the pain.

Hidden Easter Eggs by Fandango Movieclips

1:00 Meet the new droid K-2SO, voiced by Alan Tudyk. K-2SO was previously an enforcer droid for the Galactic Empire’s armed forces.
